The 3 prime areas of learning are:

  • Communication
  • Physical Development
  • Social Development

Our planned daily activities are chosen to meet ethical values by providing a bilingual and multicultural experience that raises awareness of the natural world we live in.

Social and Emotional Development | Interacting with one Another

Social development involves learning the values, knowledge, and skills that enable children to relate to others effectively and to contribute in positive ways to family, school, and the community.
Through their relationships and connections with others, children build a sense of who they are and where they fit in the social world. Coming to an understanding of self and others is therefore a central goal of children’s social development.

Language Acquisition

“One language sets you in a corridor of life. Two languages open every door along the way” ~ Frank Smith

Learning a foreign language at an early age helps with brain development and lays the foundation for lifelong academic achievement.
Children who learn a second language from an early age significantly enhance creativity, critical thinking skills, and flexibility of the mind. Children who are exposed to different languages early on in life develop profound linguistic awareness that they carry throughout their lifetime.
We provide the children with a great wealth of confidence and vocabulary to speak French.
Two Giraffes Bilingual Crèche offers the acquisition of a foreign language to your child. Daily French classes are offered to children of all ages. Proven studies demonstrate that children are better learners when they are engaged and are having fun.

Mathematics

Children will discover numbers and shapes through games and charts.
Our engaging and encouraging climate for children’s early encounters with mathematics develops their confidence in their ability to understand and use mathematics.
Research clearly shows that the more math-oriented activities children do before kindergarten, the better they will understand math in school.

Science

Investigating the natural world around them, beginning to learn about how it works by testing it with their tiny fingers, watching it change, listening to its sounds, and feeling its textures.

Engage the Real World

Children’s exploration of science is enhanced by this sun-filled environment at Two Giraffes Bilingual School. The teachers and children all participate in the growth cycle of plants by using what is grown in cooking and arts and crafts projects.

Physical Education Program

Beyond the regular school day, our children participate in physical education. We offer all children a Physical Education Program that helps them develop their gross motor and coordination skills.
In our Physical Education Program, our children learn to:

  • Walk in a straight line
  • Walk backward
  • Jump forwards and backward
  • Climb stairs
  • Throw, catch, bounce, kick a ball, etc.

It is recommended that children get at least 1 hour of physical activity daily.

Literacy

Our R.E.D. Policy | Read Every Day

We expose children to a variety of books by using age-appropriate strategies for reading.
Children can borrow books they like from our library for an evening or the weekend to allow parents to read them at bedtime or over the weekend.

Children are not born with an innate knowledge that text is read from left to right, or that the words on a page are separate from the images. Reading to children and with children is a very joyous event and a way of fostering a relationship, as well as [helping] language development. And we don’t have to wait until we’re getting them ready for school. We can make it part of regular routine.

Books teach your child about situations, personalities, and what is good and what is bad in the world the child lives in. Fantasy books provide material for his/her imagination and free play. Fairy tales fascinate and help your child distinguish between what is real and what is not.

Benefits of Reading to Your Child

  • The knowledge that reading is fun! Early reading for toddlers helps them view books as an indulgence, not a chore. Kids who are exposed to reading are much more likely to choose books over video games, television, and other forms of entertainment as they grow older.
  • A stronger relationship with you. As your child grows older, he will be on the move—playing, running, and constantly exploring his environment. Snuggling up with a book lets the two of you slow down and recapture that sweet, cuddly time you enjoyed when he was a baby.
  • Academic excellence. Numerous studies have shown that students who are exposed to reading before preschool are more likely to do well in all facets of formal education. After all, if a student struggles to put together words and sentences, how can he be expected to grasp the math, science, and social concepts he’ll be presented with when he begins elementary school?
  • More logical thinking skills. Illustration of the importance of reading to children is their ability to grasp abstract concepts, apply logic in various scenarios, recognize cause and effect, and utilize good judgment. As your toddler or preschooler begins to relate the scenarios in books to what is happening in his own world, he/she will become more excited about the stories you share.

Conclusion

Teach your child to treasure books and treat them with respect – keeping them clean and in good condition.
Surround your kid with books. Keep books where your kid can easily reach them so he will be able to browse them by himself.
Take books to read to your child on long trips and places where you have to wait like the doctor’s office.
